Profile of the Women
One of the strengths of the women in leadership and service programmes is the quality and diversity of the women who participate each year. They are drawn from a wide range of professions, social and cultural backgrounds. They are chosen because they exhibit the following characteristics:
- Aged 28-40 with a range of life experiences
- An enquiring mind and a vision for her future life
- Energy and vitality
- A demonstrated commitment to the community
- A spiritual life in harmony with the Christian tradition
- Potential for community, national or international leadership
- A desire for an affiliation with the Mercy community
Successful candidates are those who demonstrate the capacity to make the most of the development opportunities and who are most likely to contribute to the community.
From 1998 to 2009, 240 women have completed the Award and Leadership Enrichment Programmes. Some of their testimonials are included which reflect their personal experience of the programme.
