The Award Programme
The Catherine McAuley Award- Developing Women in Leadership and Service Programme
for women aged between 25 and 40 consists of:
- Selection, initial meeting, Graduation & Induction Celebration
- An introductory three day residential programme in January
- Mentoring opportunities
- Leadership development residential in July
- Seminar series
- Intergenerational Day
- Community awareness - raising service opportunities
- Intergenerational Day in August
- Further optional enrichment opportunities
- Completion weekend in November
The Introductory Leadership Residential
This is a three-day residential weekend, from Friday morning through to Sunday afternoon. The components of this programme are:
- Ritual of Welcome
- Facilitated Group Process enabling the sharing of personal stories, the sharing of expectations in relation to the programme and the concept of leadership, the setting of group norms, the sharing of similarities and difference using the Myers Briggs Personality Inventory, and a consideration of its applications for the participants in their leadership roles.
- Meeting and sharing stories with many Sisters of Mercy
- Reflecting on Experience
- Mentoring/Coaching
- Charting the Year Ahead
- Concluding Ritual
Mentoring Programme
After the initial residential, each participant either finds her own or is assisted to find a mentor, or a number of mentors to meet her development needs.
Monthly Seminar Series
The seminar series addresses issues relating to the broader context as well as understandings, qualities and skills pertaining to leadership.

Participants meet monthly in changing groups of four in between the seminars to enable them to continue to process insights derived from the seminar and as a means of getting to know one another better.
Community Awareness Opportunities
In 2008 opportunities will be provided throughout the year for community service through Hope Now. Several Optional Enrichment opportunities are provided in the 2008 programme.

Graduation Ceremony/Twilight Reception
This Ceremony/Twilight Reception celebrates the Graduation of the current year's participants, and the formal introduction of the next year's Recipients.
This weekend is followed by an exit interview for each of the participants with the convenors of the programme to provide an opportunity for feedback and for review and evaluation of the programme.
Fee: This programme is offered at no cost to participants except for a minimum charge for each residential.
