The Selection Process

To be considered for The Catherine McAuley Award you need be nominated or self-nominate using the nomination forms online. Nominations for 2011 open on Tuesday 8 June 2010 and close on Friday, 20 August 2010.

To enlist your support in identifying potential candidates for the Award, we are looking for women with the following characteristics:

  • Aged Approx 28-40 with a range of life experiences (Award)

  • An enquiring mind and a vision for her future life

  • Energy and vitality

  • A demonstrated commitment to the community

  • A spiritual life in harmony with the Christian tradition

  • Potential for community, national or international leadership

  • A desire for an affiliation with the Mercy community

Successful candidates will be those who demonstrate the capacity to make the most of the development opportunities and who are most likely to contribute to the community.

Whilst the Award involves significant contribution of time over the year, the content and experiences will be rich and rewarding exploring the physical, mental, spiritual, political and emotional dimensions of life, service and leadership.

If you have in mind women for the Award programme, please speak with them first of your intended nomination, and then fill their names out on the attached sheet and fax it or post it to us. We will then send out an application package for your nominee's consideration. Nominations and applications may be sent to the Award office at any time during the year up to the closing date.

Applications for the 2011 intake close on Friday, 20 August 2010. Interviews will be conducted in September 2010. Successful applicants will be advised during the first week in October 2010
