Hope Now

Hope Now is the Community Service Arm of The Catherine McAuley Award

Vision
A community of women actively engaged in creating a more caring, compassionate and cohesive world community that is responsive to human need.

Mission
Hope Now will actively engage in projects that inspire hope by generating opportunities for people in need within the local and global community.

Objectives
1. Creating a community of women with a strong focus on social justice.
2. Inspiring hope through compassionate and practical actions that meet an identified need within communities at a local and global level, in the tradition of Catherine McAuley and the Sisters of Mercy.
3. Supporting the UN Millenium development goals.

In August last year the women held a movie afternoon at the Astor Cinema in Mount Lawley to raise funds for a HIV/AIDS Education Program in Mizoram, India. 200 people attended the movie “Amazing Grace” and $3000 was raised. This money will be given directly to support an English Programme for grass root workers in Mizoram carrying out HIV/AIDS education.

In September a Spring Music afternoon was held at Santa Maria College to raise funds for women weavers in Delhi to purchase weaving looms and material to make their own goods to sell on the open market.
